Wynne is a city positioned in northeastern Arkansas. It is located about 100 miles from Little Rock and about 40 miles from Memphis, Tennessee. Wynne, Arkansas is named in honor of Captain Jesse Wynne, a notable resident of nearby Forrest City. In the early 1800s, the St. Louis, Iron Mountain, and Southern Railroad laid tracks near modern-day Wynne. A small community that would later become Wynne developed around a stop along the railroad. In 1888, Wynne was incorporated as a city and in 1903 the county seat was relocated to Wynne.
